Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do It (MEND) Program Starting March 14, 2017

The University of Saskatchewan will be launching its Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do It (MEND) program in Swift Current, thanks to the Growing Healthy Families Coalition (City of Swift Current Chinook School DivisionHoly Trinity Catholic School South West District Culture Rec & Sport).

What is MEND:
•MEND is a free eight-week healthy lifestyle program for children 7-13 years of age and their parents or caregivers. The program has proven to help empower the whole family to be fitter, healthier and happier.
•Twice-weekly, parents/caregivers join their children to learn about how to choose healthier foods and spend more time being physically active.
•This program is fun and interactive and supports children and their families to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Type 2 Together- Minding Your Medications

This program provides education and support for people with type 2 diabetes in a group setting. Caregivers are also welcome to attend. Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at the Cypress Regional Hospital in the Small Dining Room. Meetings are free to attend and registration is not required.

This program is intended for adults interested in managing their weight and improving their overall health and well-being. Register now and discover what really affects your weight and redefine your relationship with food and your body.

Upcoming Sessions:  Thursdays from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

  • June 15, 2017 – Session #1  topics include factors that affect weight, weight and health, your best weight, and creating awareness
  • June 22, 2017 – Session #2 topics include mindless eating, managing your environment, eating competence, and goal setting
  • June 29, 2017 – Session #3 topics include nutrients for health, meal planning, balanced meals and snacks, and label reading.
