The Cypress Health Region is committed to the control and prevention of communicable diseases in our community. Representatives of the Medical Health Officer work with key personnel of hospitals, long term care facilities, group homes, schools and daycare centers, to reduce the risk of infections and disease outbreaks.
A number of infectious diseases are reportable by law to the Medical Health Officer. Infectious diseases transmitted through food, water and other environmental conditions are investigated by our public health inspectors. The purpose of investigation is to prevent further spread of the disease, and to investigate the source of infection.
