Personal Services

Public Health Inspectors conduct routine inspections of personal services settings in the Cypress Health Region. These services include tattooing, microblading, body and ear piercing, electrolysis, acupuncture, manicures, pedicures, hairdressing/barbering, waxing, facials, tanning and relaxation massages.

The Personal Service – Best Management Practices outlines the minimum standards for cleaning, sanitation and basic infection control practices to prevent the transmission of blood-borne diseases such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV and other types of infection for both clients and workers during the delivery of personal services. The Best Practices document applies to any services/settings (including special events) where there is a risk of exposure to blood or body fluids.

In addition, there may be personal services settings that may operate, in homes or other locations, which have never been inspected by the Health Department. To ensure that you are receiving service from a Health Department inspected premise, ask the business owner/operator to show you their last Cypress Health Department Inspection Report.

I’m thinking of starting a new Personal Service Facility. What do I need to do?

You will need to submit plans and a new application form to your local Public Health office for review and approval. Please contact your local Public Health Inspector at 306-778-5280 for more detailed information and schedule a pre-opening inspection with them prior to opening.
