Public Tours Still Available for Swift Current Long Term Care

Have you booked your tour yet?

The Cypress Health Region is inviting the general public to join them in taking an advance look at the resident and palliative care rooms that will be part of the new Swift Current Long Term Care facility. Tours have been held over the past few months and the reaction and comments from tour participants have been very positive as to the design, overall size, and benefits to resident care.

The health region is encouraging anyone interested in seeing the full size replica rooms and hearing more about the construction project in general to register and come out for the tour.

Upcoming tour dates are scheduled for July 9, 16, 23, and 30 with morning, afternoon, and evening times available.

In conjunction with the project’s construction partner, PCL Construction, the health region has developed two fully functional and completely finished mock-up rooms. One room showcases an exact replica of a standard resident room and another provides a spacious palliative care room. The mock-up rooms offer a real-life view of the features that each room will have and include lighting, bathroom amenities, ceiling mounted lifting assists, windows, paint, flooring, and are completed with furniture and other equipment.

In addition to the information sharing with tour participants, the health region has also gained some valuable feedback from those taking the tour. A number of suggestions have been offered that will be incorporated into the ongoing planning and design for the rooms, which include the addition of a shelf for personal items and the location of the paper roll holders in the washrooms, among others.

Pre-registration for the tours is required to ensure a positive tour experience for all.

If you are interested in a tour, please call 306.741.1885 or email sc-ltcpublictours@cypressrha.ca. Additional information on the date and time options can be discussed with you to find a tour option that will fit into your schedule. As well, you will be provided with information on how to access the location for the tours.

Progress on the construction site continues to move forward at a tremendous pace. The public are encouraged to visit the health region’s Swift Current Long Term Care webpage to keep up to date with the status and progress on the project, and to view the on-site construction camera that provides visitors with the ability to zoom in on specific areas of the site.

Construction of the new 225-bed long term care facility is anticipated to be completed in April 2016.
